Supreme Court affirms right of transgender youth to access correct bathrooms

The United States Supreme Court affirmed the dignity and rights of transgender youth Monday.

Their decision not to review Gavin Grimm's earlier legal victory, which challenged discriminatory bathroom policies in schools, is an important step toward equality.

Today's decision gives Gavin long overdue closure, and sets an important precedent that will benefit trans youth across the nation. The right to safely use a bathroom is inextricably tied to the ability to exist in public and fully participate in a community. Trans youth deserve all of the same access and rights as their peers.
